EXPOSURE CARES 2020 FOOD DRIVE
WELCOME, we have so much to tell you about our 1stAnnual Food Drive that was held on 4thJuly, 2020 on Freedom Park, Foxhill.
Let’s firstly start off with our history. In our Bahama land, we have so many families that have been hurting and broken. I have not only heard but I have seen the needs of our people. Everyfamily in The Bahamas was affected by this global Covid19 Pandemic.
Lively hoods have been affected, damaged and lost because of this Pandemic. Families are left without jobs, cutting the income that sustained them. Since the massive job cuts in The Bahamas, families are left without food and essential items. For this reason, Exposure Cares was formed.
Our aim was assist two hundred (200) familieswith a hot plate of food and drink, clothing and a care package, so that they are able to feed their families, and that goal was achieved. Persons from all walks of life came together donating, boxes of dry food items, hot food, drinks, hygienic products and monetary donations. With the monetary donations we collected, we was able to purchase all of our dry food items for our care packages (rice, mackerel, corned beef, tuna, cream, grits, and noodles).
The Hon. Minister, Shonel Ferguson, Member of Parliament for the Foxhill constituency not only assisted us with the serving of our families but she also assisted by ensuring we reached out to those families in her constituency that she knew needed as much help as they may possible receive.
When God dropped this initiative in my spirit I honestly wasn't thinking about the magnitude God would have it to be. This Food Drive meant more to me than anything in this world because I am a young man with a love and passion for people.
Families were able to receive a hot plate of food and a cold drink, clothing, as well as feed their families who may not know when and where they would have gotten their next meal. To know what our people maybe going through and to know that I could have rendered assistance in someway shape form or fashion touched me deeper than anyone could have ever imagined.
Mother Theresa once said “Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love”.
Alot of times people will look down on you because you may not look like them or live in the same places as they are or drive the nice cars, like they do.
Helping people is not what you can gain from it but it's about the lives you can change but simply lending a helping hand.
When last have you lent a helping hand?
